Racism in Latin America is unique, and I honestly couldn't expect a non black person who had immigrated from the US to be very aware of it. I have a friend who lived in both Columbia and Peru, and spoke of racial discrimination in employment, housing and education. I have visited Puerto Rico multiple times and it's the same there. I do appreciate your kindness, but there really is only one place that is safe from racism against black people. Besides, as black people, we have to get beyond the fear of Africa that we've been taught. We also have to get over the idea that we somehow need non black people or white people in order to survive.
